Pandem-2

PANDEM-2 - Pandemic Preparedness and Response

Funded by: EU (Horizon 2020)

Budget: Total budget: €9,746,061.62, Fraunhofer INT share: €449,515

Coordinator: National University of Ireland

Partners: 19 partners from 11 European countries

Goal: Pandemics pose a major threat to the health and safety of us all. In order to protect the population, it is important to be prepared at all levels with effective responses to pandemics. As the successor to the PANDEM project, the EU-funded PANDEM-2 project will now develop a prototype IT system to strengthen planning, situational awareness and decision support in EU pandemic management. Pandemic-related data will be collected and integrated from international laboratory systems and social media to track the health, social and economic impact of a pandemic. The results will then be made available on a web-based dashboard to support decision-making. The system will be tested in various demonstrations in the Member States.

In addition, PANDEM-2 is looking at ways to improve communication between government agencies and the public, and to promote opportunities for dialog.
